We are a Reggio inspired preschool and play space in Alameda. Our mission at Whimsy is to nurture the inquisitive learners in us all through the act of invention and play. We are committed to providing learning environments and curriculum that encourage curiosity, creativity and discovery.
At Whimsy we embrace the concept of wonder and how that translates to the process of learning.
Whimsy seeks to create a community hub where families not only explore, create and play together but build and share experiences and lasting friendships.
OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENTS
explore . create . play
Children will be immersed in possibilities for exploration in our thoughtfully designed spaces. Our space houses a science (explore space), an indoor and outdoor Atelier (create space) and imaginative/movers (play space). Acrylic walls for painting, shelves of reuse materials, pottery wheels and a variety of tactile opportunities fill the space.
High ceilings and open airy spaces lend themselves to stimulating learning and play. Gardens surround the outdoor spaces creating opportunities for exploration all around us.
SMALL CLASS GROUPS
Focused attention
Our classes and Reggio groups remain small so that our educators can give focused attention to our children. Curriculum is thoughtful and daily routines are carried out with care.
Division of spaces (explore, create, play areas) for small groups, help us maintain organization as well as opportunities to refresh the learning environments for our children on a regular basis.
TEACHING TEAMS
Collaborative and Supportive
Our leadership team supports our teachers through innovative approaches to training and mentoring. We brainstorm and collaborate together on processes, curriculum and goals as a team.
Our teachers love what they do and take pride in providing creative opportunities for our children each day.
